schenectadyyouthboxing@nycap.rr.com Directions to Schenectady Youth Boxing SYB&F is non-profit organization serving young people with physical exercise programs, mentoring and support to provide an alternative to involvement with drugs, gangs and other delinquent behavior. Boxing has a long tradition of serving urban youth by introducing tools for self-discipline, character-building and dedication to a greater goal. Boxing remains an important outlet for many kids who don't have interest in team sports. Under the direction of head coach Vincent Kittle, who has more than 20 years experience coaching boxing and providing leadership to young people, the gym offers a variety of programs for children, adolescents and adults. Jeff Christiana founded SYB, along with Vince, in 2005 to provide a safe haven for Schenectady youth and positive influence to develop character and self-discipline. Jeff is the third generation of family ownership at a regional residential and commercial real estate company and an accomplished martial artist, with a black belt in karate and many years of training in a variety of fighting styles. Trainers at the gym -- Paul Brown, Trevor Bryan, Vince Kittle and Ray Velez -- are experienced former and current boxers who are involved with both professional and amateur boxing. They all share the vision that the most important role of the gym is to provide young people with a stable and secure environment to learn a sport that helps grow strong bodies, disciplined minds and enhanced personal character. |
